My entire adult life commission murals have been a way to put running shoes on mine or my kids feet. It’s hard work being a scaffold monkey, enduring the elements in the worse of conditions. I’ll never forget in 2000 being 25 feet up scaffold in a garden bed painting the Penticton Vees mural and being hit by a torrential wind gust. Thankfully, the bits (most of my stuff) flew away parallel to the wall and I was able to get down. Large scale painting is something that you get used to, excited to take on. Only once did I stare at a forty foot stretch and think, “oh my, what have I got in to.” I was young, it went fine.
